These following are from our wintering pasture. We will supplement them by feeding ground hay and corn silage along with any choice hay and native grass they wish to eat.

Starting heifers to be put back into our herd is very important that they are grown. This way they will be able to be put back as replacement heifers and eventually become cows.

Having Hereford bulls in our herd is one way that we create heterosis. Heterosis is the difference in the gene pool of the animals. This difference in the genes keeps our herd's vigor alive and growing. Vigor in our herd is seen in the animals as their drive to eat, grow, and reproduce.

These cows are always friendly and greet me when I come to give them mineral and check the pastures for any problems such as broken fence, water levels, and musk thistles which are a nuisance.

Checking out the four wheeler for any treats, cubes, which are like candy to the cows, and yes they love them!
35 bull is one of my favorite bulls. He is a Lyons bull and is very well tempered, and may even let you pet him at times. When we select for bulls we take into consideration how they act around us people since we will be the ones treating, handling, and caring for them.

A quick drink from mom!
It can get very hot during the summer months so the cattle like to take a swim. I do remember that this was one of those days and I wish I could have went with them!
